Welcome to Menelik Dance School

If you're already light on your feet, or even if you have two left ones, come along to the Menelik Dance School for fun and fitness in Cambridge.

Few dance schools offer the technical skill or expressive pleasure of the Menelik Dance School of Theodore Menelik-Mfuni in Cambridge.  From a beginners dance class right through to a professional standard dance class, there are classes for all ability levels in a wide range of dance styles.  If you'd like to learn classic and spicy Salsa Dancing, or other exotic dances, the Menelik Dance School have outstanding classes for you at various locations in and around Cambridge.  Age is not a factor, we are currently teaching students from just 6 years old, right through to 84.

The Menelik Dance School has excellent teachers available to develop each pupil's abilities, whether dancing socially or competitively.  Theodore himself started dancing at age 4 and has been teaching in Cambridge since 2003.  With skills in Latin American, Carribean and Congolese Dancing, as well as Tap and Modern Dance, and 15 years of teaching dance classes behind him, Theodore and his team will take you step by step through the techniques, styling and foot work of Salsa, Merengue, Congolese, and Zouk dances.

In our classes we try to create a light hearted and friendly atmosphere where you can practice, learn and improve.  Just come along and join in, alternatively ring or mail us for more information.

Private instruction is also available by arrangement.

Healthy Dance Notes

Dance is a great form of exercise while allowing you to be as energetic as you like. some estimate social levels of dancing to burn 100-400 calories/hr, while competitive dancers burn 600+ calories/hr. Two to three hours of continuous social dancing can give you an excellent low-impact aerobic workout. Dancing is also a fun substitute for boring exercise programs designed for recovering surgery & heart patients.

If you are to dance well, it requires good posture, which helps you breath better, walk better and look and feel younger!

Finally, dancing is one of the few activities men and women can enjoy together. It allows people to dress up for an evening out. It's a great way to meet people, make new friends and interact socially. Dancers are the nicest people
